The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has instructed governors across the United States to be ready to distribute the coronavirus vaccine by November 1.

  • The Centers for Disease Control tells governors to be ready for vaccine distribution by November.
  • President Trump is exaggerating the possibility of preparing a vaccine in the middle of the fall.
  • According to a recent CBS News poll, only 30% of Americans say they will seek such a vaccine.

In a letter dated August 27, CDC Director Robert Redfield told state officials that the government had signed with McKesson to distribute the vaccine to local officials and doctors’ offices.

Also, Dr Redfield asked state leaders to expedite any application by McKesson to build distribution facilities in their states.

“The CDC urgently seeks your assistance in expediting applications for these distribution facilities and, if necessary, asks you to consider the discount requirements that will prevent these facilities from becoming fully operational by November 1, 2020,” the letter said .

“The requirements you are asked to waive in order to expedite the delivery of the vaccine do not compromise the safety or integrity of the items being distributed.”

Are you ready for the Covid-19 vaccine?

The CDC announcement did not confirm that a Covid-19 vaccine would be ready for use by November 1st. Instead, it asks state leaders to make quick preparations if one is available.

If states are ready to distribute the highly anticipated vaccine by November, there will be no waiting time between vaccination approval and the general vaccination process.

Nevertheless, President Trump is exaggerating the possibility of preparing a vaccine in the middle of the fall.

In early August, Trump said: “I hope it will probably be on that date. “Of course I hope to have the vaccine by the end of this year, but by that date, yes, I think.”

November 1, after all, is just two days before Election Day. Some suggested that a vaccine may be dropped as a final test before a full human test by the administration of Trump.

But even Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s leading epidemiologist, imagines a better situation where a vaccine is ready to use sooner than expected.

In a recent interview with Kasier Health News, Dr Fauci said that if clinical trials for the vaccine yield very positive results, researchers will have a “moral obligation” to conclude the trials early and provide participants with the vaccine to study. This will speed up the process of making the drug widely available to the public.

However, there must be a long time between the invention of the vaccine and the so-called herd immunity. Widespread production of the vaccine will take some time, so the first batch will go only to the most vulnerable, including medical professionals, leading workers and those with immunodeficiency.

Following that, the authorities should create a campaign to convince Americans by inspiring hope that the vaccine will be effective. But that may take some time.

Because the poll shows that most Americans suspect this hitherto undetected COVID vaccine. According to a recent CBS News poll , only 30% of Americans say they will seek such a vaccine “soon.”

Meanwhile, half of those polled said they would consider it, but would first “wait” to see how others would respond to the vaccine.
