The United States reopens its economy after a devastating wave of COVID-19 infections. The United States is now doing well in connection with the peak of the April crisis. Unfortunately, there are complex signs from reopening the economy, which is frightening public health professionals.

Although the number of new infections has been relatively steady since late May, the recent hospitalization of COVID-19 in a dozen states have heightened fears of a second wave of COVID-19 infections.

Texas has been hospitalized for three consecutive days at Adventure Hospital. Houston officials are so concerned that they are coming up with orders to stay home and use the NFL stadium as a makeshift hospital.

The United States now has more new infections than many Western European countries that have experienced the most devastating COVID-19 outbreaks.

According to Ashish Jha, president of Harvard’s Global Health Institute, the United States is the only major country to reopen without trial growth at restricted levels, at 5% or less for at least 14 days.

“I want the reopening to be successful,” Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo told reporters. “But there is growing concern that I may be approaching the downfall of a disaster.”

Of all countries, the US is tied with Ireland and the Netherlands for the 10th highest COVID-19 mortality rate.
